I have completed structured courses, lab-based exercises and tool-based training workshops. I also have highly developed skills from 20+ years in corporate communications that are highly transferrable.
CompTIA Sec+
I have Security+ certification from CompTIA, obtained in September 2025. I am working towards Analyst+ (CySA).
Google CyberSecurity
I completed the Google CyberSecurity Certificate- an 8 module course covering cyber security approaches as well as practical lab experiences.
Splunk SIEM Bootcamp
Completed a one week course that explored the key functions of Splunk as a data and a SIEM tool.
Linux
I have introductory Linux capability, and can use CLI to adjust user and access permissions, manage files & directories and run automation files.
Experience is primarily using Kali Linux (via Bash).
SQL
Using SQL to query and filter databases. Can execute joins and aggregate data through SQL commands.
In lab environments have used SQL queries to compile vulnerability assessments.
Python
Skills in Python to build basic algorithms, using Loops and conditionals. Have built functions and basic programs.
Have used python to access files and search for anomalies and vulnerabilities in security-related data.
Assets, Threats & Vulnerabilities
Experience in Asset Classification and Security; NIST Cyber Security Framework; Cryptography (inc PKI and hasing), AAA, Identity & Access Management (IAM); Vunerability Management; threat modelling (inc PASTA).
Network Security
Knowledge of both TCP/IP and OSI models; network protocols; firewalls; network attacks and packet sniffing; OS and network hardening. Using packet capture tools (inc tcpdump and Wireshark).
Frameworks & Controls
Familiarity with NIST Frameworks and OWASP principles. Experience of security audits and incident response playbooks. Also exercises of vulnerability and risk assessment (inc reporting and documentation).
Detection & Response
Used of NIST Response Lifecycle; identifying IOCs; triage in incident response (including ticket handling); log collection and management; detection tools (inc Suricata); SIEM and SOAR tools (inc Splunk and Google SecOps).
Communication
I have experience in internal and external communications. I have ghost-written for business leaders and advised on public appearances, in particular media interviews. This background has given me the skills to clearly communicate and position key ideas and messages effectively.
Executive Counsel
I have extensively advised senior business leaders, not only on specific appearances, but on communication strategy and approach. This experience in stakeholder management has helped me better communicate expectations, report results and guide strategy.
Collaboration
I am a highly collaborative operator, with extensive experience of both leading and participating in projects that span product, legal, marketing, HR and security teams. I value the input of different perspectives and the positive impact that has on end results.
